The 29-year-old was taken off the ice in a stretcher and was responsive following the incident, per multiple reports from the Scotiabank Saddledome.

According to Postmedia’s Kristen Anderson, Brodie was standing alone during a drill before collapsing and convulsing on the ice. Flames’ general manager Brad Treliving released the following statement on Twitter: “TJ Brodie experienced an episode on ice at practice today. He is alert and responsive and has been transported to local area hospital for evaluation. We will provide a further update when available. Thank you.”

Brodie has played 21 games for the Flames this year. The Chatham, Ont., native has spent his entire career in Calgary after being taken 114th overall in the 2008 NHL draft.
