But the real story came during the celebration, when an exuberant bunch of Stampeders accidentally broke the prestigious trophy.

According to the National Post, the Cup broke when linebacker Juwan Simpson attempted to hoist it over his head.

“I think I’m the one that did it. I don’t know. I grabbed it and was excited, and all of a sudden, it got a little (loose.) Some glue and some duct tape and it’ll be good."

Here’s the thing, this isn’t the first time the Grey Cup has been broken. In fact, this was the sixth time the trophy was damaged during celebration. It has been dropped, headbutted and sat on. Its handles and base have fallen off, and it even survived a clubhouse fire in 1947.

Hopefully the Stampeders provide the necessary repairs so it will be ready to be broken again next season.
