After two years as contributing editor for our landmark Focus on Technology section, Katie Hafner will become our new technology correspondent. Hafner is moving from Austin, Texas, to northern California, where she will work out of NEWSWEEK’S San Francisco bureau, continuing to cover the companies and personalities that have made the high-tech industry one of the most fascinating stories of the ’90s. Hafner has written several books, including ““Cyberpunk’’ and ““The House at the Bridge: A Story of Modern Germany.’’ Her most recent is ““Where Wizards Stay Up Late,’’ the first definitive history of the Internet, which she wrote with her husband, Matthew Lyon. From her new base near Silicon Valley, Hafner will continue to work closely with Senior Editor George Hackett and technology columnist Steven Levy to keep NEWSWEEK’S technology coverage the best in the business.
