The two boys, aged 13 and 14, took the car around 3:30 a.m. and drove to Stockton, 50 miles east of Sacramento.

The pair were met by two carjackers near the 200 block of West Benjamin Holt Drive in the Lakeview District, according to a Watch Commander’s report issued by the Stockton Police Department.

One of the carjackers held a knife to one boy’s neck and ordered the two to get out of the car, according to police.

The teenagers left the area and contacted police. The vehicle was later recovered, but officers are still searching for the two carjackers.

Police say they are searching for a white female juvenile and a Hispanic male aged between 16 to 20.

Newsweek has contacted the Stockton Police Department for comment.

The news comes two weeks after a teenage girl was carjacked by a man just 20 minutes after his release from jail.

Marcus Goodman, 31, allegedly carjacked the 16-year-old girl soon after being released from the Spokane County Jail in Washington.

Goodman was released at 10:08 p.m. on the night of February 15, where he was being held on an unrelated felony change.

At 10:28 p.m., officers responded to a carjacking call in the area of Brooke’s Addition, Spokane City Police said in a statement. A 16-year-old girl told police that she was approached by a stranger who demanded she hand over her car and indicated that he was carrying a gun.

A few hours later, police located the stolen vehicle and the driver, Goodman, was detained. He was identified as the man who had robbed the girl and was booked back into Spokane County Jail for the felony charge of second degree robbery.

It comes after a 14-year-old girl used a dating app to lure three males into carjacking traps in Washington, D.C., police said.

The girl, who has not been named, colluded with others to draw the men to a location before waving a handgun at them, stealing their belongings and driving off in their vehicle, Metropolitan Police Department detectives said in a news release.

Ages of the alleged victims, or whether they knew they were meeting an underage girl, is not clear at this stage, WUSA reports.

Officers charged the girl with two counts of armed robbery with a gun and assault with a dangerous weapon after her arrest on Tuesday.

Two of the alleged robberies happened earlier this month, while the first took place in January last year, police said.
