The crash occurred just a few blocks from the Panthers’ practice facility. Newton’s black Dodge pickup truck overturned, flipping at least three times before landing on its side. Newton was placed onto a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance.

Panthers owner Jerry Richardson said after speaking to doctors that Newton “is in good shape.”

CMPD confirmed Newton was the driver of the pickup truck and that he was able to communicate following the collision.
