Why is Andre Onana not playing for Cameroon?
Andre Onana is a surprise admission from Cameroon’s squad for the match against Serbia today, having already played in the opening defeat to Switzerland last week.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims the Inter Milan goalkeeper has been involved in a disagreement with the head coach Rigobert Song over playing styles.
“André Onana has been removed from Cameroon’s squad. Been told that the reason is a discussion with head coach as he insisted for different style of goalkeeping, more ‘traditional’,” Romano tweeted.
“Onana has no intention to change his style — tense situation & so he’s been excluded.”
While he’s missing from today’s match, some reports suggest he may have been axed from the entire World Cup squad with Samuel Eto’o’s attempts to calm down the situation between Onana and Song.
