The event directly coincides with LIV Golf’s first tournament. The league has emerged as opposition to the PGA Tour, with names like Phil Mickelson, Louis Oosthuizen, and Dustin Johnson electing to sign onto the Saudi Arabian-backed tour. 

Rory McIlroy is the reigning champion of the Canadian Open after his win in 2019. His seven-stroke margin of victory was the biggest in the tournament since Johnny Palmer won by 11 strokes in 1952.

TV coverage of the Canadian Open will be split between Golf Channel and CBS. Golf Channel will handle the first two days, while CBS will take over the afternoon portions of the final two rounds.

Canadian viewers can find the 2022 Canadian Open on TSN for the first two rounds and first half of the latter two. CTV having the afternoon parts of Rounds 3 and 4.

The Golf Channel and TSN in Canada will be the exclusive home of the Canadian Open over the first two days before CBS and CTV take over for afternoon coverage in the final two rounds on Saturday and Sunday.

Peacock will be streaming all the rounds that are broadcast on Golf Channel. TSN.ca will have TSN’s coverage of the event.
