11 of those goals have come from the stick of Evgeny Kuznetsov.

During the first period of Washington’s Saturday night matchup, the 25-year-old connected with forward Jakub Vrana to give the Capitals a 1-0 lead over the Philadelphia Flyers. Kuznetsov received a feed in front and passed the puck in the direction of Vrana, who banked in the shot for his second goal in as many games, and Kuznetsov’s league-leading 11th assist.

Kuznetsov’s 11 assists are the most by a player through a team’s first six games since San Jose’s Joe Thornton did it in 2012-13, according to StatsCentre. The Capitals have three players atop of the scoring chart: Kuznetsov, Alex Ovechkin — with his nine goals — and forward Nicklas Backstrom.
