An MRI Saturday revealed a right shoulder strain in Martinez’s pitching arm that forced him to exit Friday’s game against the Brewers after just seven pitches.

Martinez told reporters Friday that he began feeling tightness in the shoulder during his previous start on Sunday against the Cubs, but wanted to “pitch through it.”
Martinez is 14-7 with a 3.01 ERA and 184 strikeouts in 179 2/3 innings.
