Coach Bruce Arians, speaking on Arizona Sports 98.7 on Monday, said he’ll start Thomas in the Cardinals’ season finale on the road against the 49ers.

Lindley had a dismal performance against the Seattle, failing to lead the Arizona to the end zone. But Arians said the benching is not a reflection of that performance.

“In no way would it be a reflection of the way Ryan played — only the chance for Logan to show that he can do something. It would be a great hook if it isn’t going the way I want it to go, because I do trust Ryan.”

Lindley was 18-of-44 for 216 yards and an interception during a loss in which the Cardinals had more punts (nine) than points (six).

Thomas, a fourth-round pick out of Virginia Tech, is 1-of-9 this season, the one being an 81-yard touchdown pass to Andre Ellington in a Week 5 loss to the Broncos. He will face a 49ers defense that allowed 356 passing yards and four touchdowns last week to Phillip Rivers in a 38-35 Chargers overtime win.
