After days of hype that followed touted Astros prospect Carlos Correa’s callup to the bigs, and after two rain delays Monday in Chicago against the White Sox, the 20-year-old shortstop singled in his second big league at-bat off Chris Sale. That’s how history will record it, anyway.

Correa was first called out by first base umpire Larry Vanover on the bang-bang play after hitting a grounder deep into the hole to White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez. The Astros challenged and the call was overturned, giving Correa his first hit and first RBI as a major leaguer — and tying the game 1-1.
It’s probably not how Correa drew it up in his boyhood dreams, but at least it’ll look like a line drive in the box score.
