ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said Friday that Varejao, who underwent surgery after tearing his Achilles in December, could have returned if “anything were to go bad.”

With the first game taking place in Oakland next Thursday, the likelihood of the Varejao being well enough to play is slim, at best. Varejao, a 6-11 center, has averaged 7.9 points and 7.8 rebounds per game over his 11-year career with the Cavs.
