The trash-talk hostess took the stand nervously as a witness in the murder trial of Jonathan Schmitz, who was found guilty of shooting Scott Amedure last year. (Amedure had admitted on Jones’s show that he had a crush on Schmitz.) Meanwhile, on E! an actor performed O.J.’s testimony from the (untelevised) civil trial. So one cable channel showed an entertainment program on trial for a real-life murder, while another turned a real-life double murder into entertainment. No problem: television taught us long ago that the line between fact and fiction is blurrier than one of O.J.’s alibis.
