Each player wore special military warmup sweatshirts with the names of local Gold Star recipients’ names embroidered across their hearts.

In addition to wearing the sweatshirts for warmups before taking in the Jaguars, each player was given a card describing the life of the soldier they were honoring, including their hometown, age, and where he or she was killed in action or service.

“They will understand who the person is and who they’re representing, so there’s a little bit of connection there,” Chiefs equipment manager Allen Wright said. 

A total of 63 Gold Star recipients were honored.
