The current largest fire, the LNU Lightning Complex Fire, has burned at least 369,935 acres, according to Cal Fire’s latest report Thursday. A portion of Vacaville in northern California was reported to have been “absolutely fried,” by the LNU complex fire, according to video footage shared by a San Francisco Chronicle reporter, Matthias Gafni, on his official Twitter account. “More video from #Vacaville ridge that got absolutely fried. Just completely flattened....

According to the NAPSG Live Fire Web App, the Mankin fire began on Friday at 11:26 a.m., and the San Diego area fire began at 7:39 p.m., Friday. Many fires have been mostly contained, including Hill, Cow and Hillside, which are all over 90 percent contained, according to NAPSG. In the latest fire weather outlook from NWS, elevated fire conditions are expected in parts of Southern California, including the San Diego area....

Six people have died so far. Tens of thousands have been evacuated, with nearly 700 homes damaged by the fires, the Associated Press (AP) reported. The affected areas include the Big Basin Redwoods State Park, California’s oldest state park, which has experienced “sustained extensive damage” from the CZU August Lightning Complex fire in Santa Cruz County. The park has been closed from Monday until further notice, California State Parks confirmed....

In November, Medford fled the Chaves County Detention Center in Roswell, New Mexico, on foot after changing from his blue scrubs into a red skirt and a dark top, while carrying a pink purse and wearing a scarf on his head....

A farmer living in Lower Lake, in Lake County, noticed the dead lambs last week and notified the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. The lion had killed the livestock but had not eaten them, The Mercury News reported. An official from the department visited the farm shortly after the incident and found tracks belonging to the animal, according to local news reports. Newsweek has contacted the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for comment....

Some 2,500 nurses plan to walkout from Christmas Eve to January 3 amid anger over staffing rates and coronavirus safeguards, including PPE. New York reported 408,886 cumulative positive cases of the virus on Wednesday, but California reported 413,576 cases of the infection.
