A record-breaking heat wave hit the state days ago and has created a prime environment for wildfires to thrive. CBS News reported how the temperatures are breaking records in several locations in the state. Monday temperatures in Livermore hit 116 degrees Fahrenheit, its hottest day of all time. The former record was 108 degrees, set in 1950. CBS News added that San Francisco, Oakland, Salinas, San Jose, King City and other municipalities also saw daily records....

A 2018 state law banned companies from forcing workers who settle sexual harassment, assault or discrimination cases to sign a nondisclosure agreement. Such agreements were a way to silence victims and shield serial offenders from consequences. The new law, signed Thursday by Governor Gavin Newsom, bans such secret settlements for other types of discrimination cases, including those based on race, religion, gender and sexual orientation, the AP said. The bite victim was Roger Blenker, 32, who is one of the private owners of the zoo. According to a news release by the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, on July 13, Blenker was moving the camel along an alleyway in preparation to transport it to a different facility when the humped creature bit him. “The camel placed Blenker’s head into its mouth, biting down on his head.
