Keith Lawrence Middlebrook, 53, was arrested by the FBI yesterday evening after posting multiple videos to Instagram claiming he had developed treatment for anyone suffering from COVID-19. He allegedly solicited financial investments for a company he claimed was developing the medicine. This month, Middlebrook’s videos containing the false claims had been viewed about 2 million times. His Instagram profile is verified and he has at least 2.4 million followers on the social network....

On Tuesday, KTXL spoke with Jeanine Jones who is an interstate resources manager for the California Department of Water Resources. Jones told the news station that the weather in California has been extremely unpredictable so residents and experts should be prepared for “whatever outcome.” “It would be nice if we had a really wet winter but more likely, we’re probably in store for continued dry conditions which really emphasizes the importance of conservation,” said Jones....

California’s Proposition 12 mandates space requirements for confining certain animals and prohibits the sale of meat and eggs from animals that are kept in places that do not meet this standard. Proposition 12, which introduces regulations for egg-laying hens, veal meat and pork meat, was overwhelmingly backed by voters and will come into effect from January 1, 2022. According to The Associated Press, veal and egg producers are optimistic they will be able to meet the new standards, but only 4 percent of pig farmers believe they will be able to comply....

Sands, 65, was reported missing on January 13 while hiking in the Baldy Bowl area, a dish-shaped valley on the southern face of Mount Baldy. Search and rescue crews began looking for him using aerial vehicles as road conditions were poor, and are now searching for another hiker, Jin Chung, on the same mountainside. Police said they found Sands’ car near where he was reported missing, but there has been no new information about his whereabouts since then....
