Capitol Police said the officer acted lawfully and in line with police department policy during the incident, when Babbitt began to climb through the broken part of a door leading into an area known as the Speaker’s Lobby. Mark Schamel, the officer’s attorney, said his client was forced from his home because he’s facing “many credible death threats” and other “horrific threats.” The officer’s name was not released by Capitol Police over concerns for his safety....

Zvonimir Joseph Jurlina has been charged with destroying property in a special jurisdiction and aiding and abetting, as well as committing an act of physical violence on Capitol grounds, according to an affidavit released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. Prosecutors allege that Jurlina was part of a crowd that assaulted a media staging area shortly before 5 p.m. on Jan. 6. Members of the press were forced to flee as the large crowd moved past metal barricades and began destroying cameras, tripods, shades and other remote broadcasting equipment....
Egtvedt, who is accused of assaulting Capitol Police officers, was arrested on February 13 after officers were called to his brother’s house in Maryland because of an altercation. Egtvedt, according to prosecutors, was incensed about the impending inoculation, in part, because he believed it would alter his mother’s DNA. His brother called officers because Egtvedt was “so unruly,” according to court filings, and the defendant reportedly told law enforcement he was “going to have to be arrested” before his mother got inoculated....
