The family of Robert Mardis Sr., 67, said he was suffering from COPD and congestive heart failure, according to the Sacramento Bee. Police found the animal on the floorboard of the car after they responded to reports of a person driving under the influence (DUI) near Anderson in northern California. Police launched a homicide investigation after the woman’s body was discovered by someone walking along the Hosp Grove Trail East in Carlsbad at around 11.20 a.m. on Monday. Investigators working with the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the victim, identified only as a 68-year-old white woman from Carlsbad, had been stabbed, the Carlsbad Police Department confirmed on Tuesday.
